Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science
Program Overview
Exercise Science, also known as Kinesiology, is the scientific study of how the body responds and adapts to physical activity. Through Exercise Science we learn how to improve athletic performance, maintain health and wellness, and prevent and treat chronic disease. Primary sub-disciplines within this field include:

The Exercise Science curriculum includes two tracks, Health & Wellness and Sport Performance, giving students flexibility to pursue their interests.

Choose Your Track: Health & Wellness or Sport Performance
The Health & Wellness track emphasizes the role of physical activity on health promotion and chronic disease prevention. The Sport Performance track highlights the role of exercise physiology on the training and performance of athletes.

Accelerated Pathways and Early-Entry Opportunities
The Exercise Science program prepares students for advanced study in fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, public health, and exercise science. With hands-on laboratory courses, research opportunities, and internships, students graduate well prepared to pursue competitive graduate and professional programs.

Students may pursue early entry into Bellarmine's Doctor of Physical Therapy program or complete combined five-year B.A./MHS or B.A./MSAT programs.

Facilities
The Flynn Building houses the Exercise Science program and includes a human performance lab, classrooms, offices, and student spaces with equipment including metabolic carts, hydrostatic weighing tank, and exercise testing equipment.
